  • About The Role

  • Our Finance Team are looking to a Project Accountant to join us at our office in Monmouth.
     
    This role will involve developing contract accounting processes and providing on-going accounting support to the Project Teams. This will also include the production of the Monthly Management Accounts and support with schedules and analysis.
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Develop and maintain monthly Project Profit & Loss statements aligned with their key milestones ensuring financial control, visibility, and proactive decision-making throughout a project’s lifecycle.
    • Work closely with Project Managers to monitor cost plans, track expenditure, and forecast potential savings to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
    • Ensure all project activities are accurately captured, tracked, and incorporated into the quarterly forecasting process to support reliable financial and resource planning.
    • Support the Project Manager in maintaining accurate and current risk registers for all active projects, ensuring risks are documented, reviewed, and updated regularly.
    • Provide support and backup to the Management Accountant, assisting in the preparation of Management Accounts, cashflow forecasting, and VAT reporting to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
    • Prepare and maintain detailed monthly supporting schedules for all assigned project balance sheet accounts (e.g., accruals, prepayments, WIP, receivables, payables, advances, retention).
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the inventory database by identifying data discrepancies, performing periodic fleet asset verification and developing process automation.
    Support the year-end close process, ensuring it runs efficiently and on schedule. Coordinate and facilitate clear communication across internal departments and liaise with external auditors to provide required information and resolve queries promptly. 
     
    Skills & Qualifications:
    • Qualified Accountant or final stages (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
    • Experience of working within a financial Project environment
    • Strong understanding of Project Recognition, Contract Accounting and Risk Management
    • Key involvement in system implementations in the past with the ability to educate and develop work processes across departments
    • Practical knowledge of financial audits and associated legislation
    • Experience of IT packages such as Sage 200, Syrinx, Microsoft Dynamics
    • Highly numerate and analytical with the ability to interpret and present data clearly
    • A methodical and diligent approach to working
